Michael Obafemi is a man who will not want this season to end after a scintillating second half to the season that has seen him take his goal tally to eleven goals and now he is setting his sights on fifteen before the end of the campaign.
It may be a tough ask to see him score four more in the three remaining games, more so when you consider the opposition in those remaining three games but you understand why he is confident.
Obafemi scored his 11th goal of the campaign on Saturday against Middlesbrough – another well taken strike – meaning he has now scored 10 in his last 16 games for the club, form that we can all hope he takes into next season.
It is in complete contrast to the first half of the season where Obafemi seemed to be struggling to adapting to life at Swansea leading to much speculation that he could even depart in the January window but that now seems a lifetime away given his recent form.
Speaking to the club’s official website after Saturday’s draw, the Swans striker talked about his goals for the rest of the season and his belief that the only way is up now for the Swans who are on the back of an eight match unbeaten run ahead of the visit of Bournemouth on Tuesday night.
โMy target at the beginning of the season was to score 10 and obviously Iโm past that now so my next target is 15 so I need what, four in three? Itโs possible,” Obafemi said in his interview.
โWe are also eight games unbeaten, and the aim for the rest of the season is to keep that going.
โWeโve come a long way since the start of the season, weโre eight games unbeaten and weโre showing the fans that we can do it against play-off contenders, so the only way is up for us.”
