Speculation arose on Thursday morning that there could be interest in Swansea manager Russell Martin from Watford who are on their quarterly change the manager hunt once again it seems.
The Hornets have become one of those sides who change their manager on a regular basis and are heading towards relegation once again from the Premier League, just twelve months after they were promoted.
The name of Martin was linked with a move to Watford with current manager Roy Hodgson coming to the end of his short term contract and the Athletic are reporting that Martin’s name is of interest to them.
Martin has been getting an increased number of plaudits as the season progresses at Swansea despite our bottom half league position and it is widely predicted that we could push on well next season where, ironically, one of our challengers will of course be Watford.
It does beg the question as to why Martin would consider it and he agreed with that when questioned on the speculation at his press conference today.
“Itโs the first I’ve heard of it,” he told Wales Online. “Iโve said to you all along, I’m in a job Iโm absolutely loving in a place Iโm loving living in and my family are really happy.
“The coaching staff we have and the way weโve been embraced by everyone here, weโre really happy. Weโre enjoying building something, we knew it was going to take some time.
“It would be crazy to even consider doing anything else at the minute. Iโll just control what we can control, which is how we work, how we feel about what weโre doing, how we feel about each other, how we treat people here and the rest is just noise.โ
Watford were earlier in the week also linked with Swans striker Michael Obafemi.
