Shrewsbury goalkeeper to be first summer signing?

Speculation from Shrewsbury Town suggests that goalkeeper Marko Marosi could be on his way to the Swans in the summer transfer window.

In a Youtube video from Shrewsbury’s final match of the season on Saturday – the “In the Stiffs” podcast which is hosted by Sam Aiston, Gav Cowan and former Wales international David Edwards – Marosi is discussed and it’s suggested that a move to Swansea is “done.”

That’s to quote former Shrewsbury striker Andy Cooke at least – whether his knowledge is to be trusted is to be seen although it is understood that Russell Martin will be in the market for another goalkeeper.

Currently Andy Fisher, Ben Hamer and Steven Benda are on the books at Swansea as senior goalkeepers although Hamer is out of contract in the summer.

See link above for full video – 20 minutes in is where Marosi is discussed.

Marosi is 6 foot 4, 28 years of age and has decent experience within the Football League having begun his career at Wigan Athletic after a successful trial whilst Roberto Martinez was manager.

He then joined Doncaster Rovers and played there for 5 years before moving to Coventry City in 2019 helping the Sky Blues to promotion from League One.

The Slovakian was a regular for Mark Robins’ team the following campaign but then moved to Shrewsbury where he has received praise for his shot saving ability and handling although his distribution is regarded as be one of his weaker attributes.
