Gill appointed as new assistant but where is Colin Calderwood?

Matt Gill has officially been appointed as Russell Martin’s assistant after temporarily stepping up to the role last season.

The appointment has been widely anticipated after Luke Williams left for personal reasons earlier this year; he has also just been appointed manager at Notts County in the National League.

But it was also reported that Northampton Town assistant Colin Calderwood would be joining the club’s backroom staff imminently by many reliable sources including the BBC.

They reported on the 19th of May that Calderwood was set to leave Northampton to take up a role in the Swans backroom staff but nothing has been heard since.

In fact the Northampton Chronicle has suggested that any move is certainly not imminent with Calderwood committed and helping Town boss with regards to summer recruitment ahead of the new campaign.

Cobblers manager Jon Brady said:ย  “Colin and I spoke in the off season and we met four or five times and the relationship we have developed between all of the staff here – Marc (Richards), James Alger, the analysis and medical departments – we all get along tremendously well.”

The Swans will be on the lookout for a defensively minded coach to aid their backroom team after a season which saw a large amount of goals conceded.

Will it be Calderwood? It doesn’t seem that way as it stands.

  1. All paper talk the trouble is what is more important strengthen back room staff before getting in new players other teams are going ahead but the Swans have come to a full stop yes looking at players is no good go out and get them but do not forget we have them two in charge of our club Levien and Kaplan who will not invest money into the club to get some decent players in just rely on loan players again I wish there were some people out there who could take the club forward and have the club at heart which is more than what can be said about these two.
