MK Dons sign Swans target – does this allow Darling to leave?

MK Dons have signed reported Swans target Jack Tucker from Gillingham potentially paving the way for Harry Darling to leave for pastures new.

Tucker (a centre half) had been touted with moves to Charlton and the Swans in recent days but the Dons have come from nowhere to secure the player’s signature – they have to agree a compensation fee due to his age.

That could then allow long time Swans target Harry Darling to depart from the League One club with even Chelsea the latest club to be linked with a move for the highly rated defender.

Russell Martin has already started to shape his defence ready for the new season with Lynden Gooch in talks with the club, Nathan Wood already signed and a potential for Joel Latibeaudiere to leave for Burnley.

He is known to be a huge fan of Darling having shown interest in him and Matt O’Riley in the January transfer window – the question is whether the funds are available without significant movement out

Or perhaps a reduction in the MK Dons pricetag in turn for the Swans allowing them a free move for their new signing Tucker? That’s purely speculation, and hopeless faith, on my part!

The Swans are also yet to sell anyone of significant note with the likes of Morgan Whittaker, Liam Cullen, Jordan Garrick, Steven Benda, Jay Fulton and Ryan Bennett all known to be for sale.

  1. We need to move quicker in the transfer market, unfortunately it is a case of sell before we buy, this ties our hands and inevitably a club will come in with a last minute bid for our players, leaving us with little or no time to sign replacements.
