Jamie Paterson has put any lingering doubts about his future to an end after signing a new contract with the Swans until 2024.
The midfielder spent a long period out of the team last season over a dispute between himself and the club and it looked like there was only one way the former Bristol City man was heading.
But he soon returned and whilst didn’t deliver the same form he showed earlier in the season still managed to have an impact as the season came to a close.
Paterson arguably enjoyed the best spell of his career last year delivering 18 goal contributions (9 goals, 9 assists) and the news of his extension will undoubtedly provide a boost to Russell Martin and his backroom team.
A happy Paterson told the Official Site: โIโm delighted.
โIโm glad that itโs sorted and I can just enjoy my football here now. Sometimes, some places are just a good fit.
โ’The Swansea Way’ does suit my style of play, and I have always looked at the way Swansea play and Iโve always been attracted to that, and Iโve ended up here.
โLast season went well but I want to maintain that and improve even more.
โWe showed a lot of positive signs last season โ there were ups and downs as always โ but the way we play, itโs a difficult way to play.
โYou have to be conditioned and be very fit and you have to be really brave on the ball.
โThe gaffer came in, stuck to his principles, and I think it was a successful first season and weโre looking to build on that now.โ
Paterson’s contract extension continues a good week which has seen Harry Darling join the club and a new addition to the backroom staff.
