Reported Swans target Marcus Harness was withdrawn from the Portsmouth side to face Bristol City amidst increasing speculation that he is bound for South Wales.
Originally in the squad, the right sided player was omitted before kick off with speculation on Twitter suggesting that a deal may be close to breakthrough with the Swans.
Harness, 26, has scored 34 in 131 appearances for Pompey and is recognised as their most valuable player although a fee of ยฃ750k was mooted most of the summer as the figure that they would need in order to part with the former Burton man.
If a deal were to go ahead, it could be a swap deal with Portsmouth known to be interested in attacking trio Liam Cullen, Morgan Whittaker and Kyle Joseph – all players who the club wouldn’t be reluctant to let go.
Russell Martin is still in the market for a right back – perhaps a position that the boss feels Harness could fill – along with another goalkeeper as we move further into the summer.
If speculation on social media is anything to go by we may well see further movement on this in the coming days and perhaps the player’s omission from the team today suggests that something may be very close.
As a Pompey fan I would wish Marcus every success in the world. He has talent but needs to be more consistent with it. I think his best position is as a no.10 or as a right sided midfielder but he is never a right back.
Carry on the good work Rob

Harness can not tackle. Don’t know who you’ve been watching but you’ve got the wrong guy.
All it is is speculation we donโt really need him letโs wait until heโs holding up a swans shirt until then all it is, is gossip uppajacks.
