Swans target former Huddersfield midfielder

The Swans are suggested as being in the race for former Huddersfield Town midfielder Aaron Mooy who has become a free agent this summer.

Mooy moved to Chinese side Shanghai Port in 2020 after a spell with Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion but has now become a free agent following the expiration of his contract.

His most successful spell arguably was at Huddersfield where he made 120 appearances over three seasons, scoring eleven goals after leaving Manchester City initially on loan.

Mooy is regarded generally as a creative midfielder so would be a good option for Russell Martin and brings further experience from the international stage having played for Australia over 50 times.

Julian Winter will undoubtedly have a relationship with Mooy after he signed the player as CEO at the Terriers so there may be some truth in the speculation.

Other clubs are being touted with a move for the player who turns 32 in September including Championship rivals Middlesbrough, Birmingham City and Norwich City so it seems the midfielder won’t be short of options this summer.

With the Swans one midfielder down this summer even after the signing of Joe Allen – and Jay Fulton likely to be on the move – it would seem that another central midfielder could be on the cards.

One to watch perhaps…
