Swans linked to another centre half – surely not?

The Swans are being linked with a move for Fiorentina defender Jacob Rasmussen along with QPR and Norwich City according to Football Insider.

A centre half by trade Rasmussen enjoyed a productive spell on loan at Vitesee Arnhem for two seasons but is not wanted at Fiorentina and could be heading for the UK.

But whilst Russell Martin is known to be in the market for a defender it will surely be a right back with the Swans somewhat overstocked at centre back following the signings of Nathan Wood and Harry Darling.

It leaves Ben Cabango, Brandon Cooper, Joel Latibeaudiere, Kyle Naughton, Ryan Manning, Darling, Wood and the excluded Ryan Bennett vying for a slot in either a central two or three.

There still is little in the way of rumours of a right back arriving with Latibeaudiere deputising in recent weeks during pre season and Naughton preferred at centre half.

Ethan Laird and Cyrus Christie will surely be of interest to Russell Martin in one way or another but with the Swans boss admitting last week that players would need to leave for more to come in, any signings are unlikely to be imminent.

  1. Canโ€™t see this happening for us.
And, is it desirable? Rasmusson really has little to justify his price tag apart from having been on the books of Empoli and Fiorentina.; much of on loan.
