Russell Martin says he feels no pressure to ensure the Swans get a result at Blackpool and defended his side’s performances in the three games so far this season.
The team is yet to win so far this term and were heavily beaten 3-0 at home to Blackburn on Saturday but Martin still felt there were positives to take away.
He believed that the Swans created more opportunities than Blackburn like the Rotherham and Oxford games but are being let down by “key moments.”
Despite his protestations, there should be pressure on him to deliver and make sure it isn’t 10 games without a win Saturday. And as far as the majority of fans are concerned, there have been few positives to take away from this rather woeful start to the season.
He told the BBC: “We are two games in, three games in aren’t we?
When asked if the pressure was on for a result on Saturday, he said: “Not really. I don’t know, maybe from outside. Not for us.
“It’s been a frustrating start but there have been loads of positive signs as well. Even [last] Saturday, people will be frustrated, as I am, but we had a huge amount of the ball and most of it in the final third.
“It is not very often you are camped in the final third. We just shouldn’t concede three goals.
“There is an issue at the moment – in the key moments of the game, we have to manage it better.
“We created more than Rotherham, we created ore than Blackburn, we created much more than Oxford, and we don’t win any of them. We have to believe that’s going to turn.”
What do you think about his comments?
Usual dribble.the club need to make a decision now before it gets worse.martin is out of his depth,I can’t understand his so called philosophy never have.he talked nonsense ๐. No plan b.his way or the highway.he spends to much time looking at his self in the mirror.lets be honest.he knows no one any good that he can bring to the club.if oleary is appointed in the future, that’s me done.yanks are pulling out so I’ve read.
Martin is not a clever man. He needs a smart and sneaky DoF to tell him what to do, and the power to make sure he does it. Martin is very good at doing the basics that are often neglected, but he has very little imagination, as we see week after week.
Swansea are not far from being a highly effective side, but as it stands there is no one in the club who make Martin do what is needed.
