Burnley prepare surprise deadline bid for Swans star

Burnley are preparing an offer for Swans striker Michael Obafemi according to reports this evening.

Alex Crook, Talksport presenter, has tweeted that the newly relegated Championship team are interested in the 22 year old Irish international and it has also been backed up by Ian Mitchelmore.

It is suggested that the Swans are holding out for £12m for the striker that was signed from Southampton last summer which may prove too rich for Vincent Company’s side.

But with Swansea needing to make further sales with a big name exit a possibility before Thursday’s deadline, a move to Burnley for Obafemi simply can’t be ruled out.

The striker was marginalised for the first half of last season but rose to prominence after being given his chance by Russell Martin in the second netting 12 in 24 starts and 8 substitute appearances.

He has one goal so far this campaign which came against Millwall with the team majorly underperforming but it could be that tomorrow night against Stoke is his last appearance for the club.

It seems likely that him or Piroe will attract an offer before Thursday night; it’s whether the price will be right for the ownership. Whether there is a replacement will surely come secondary to the finances being right.

It’s sure to be an eventful few days.

  1. Another pocket full of money for the yanks and nothing for the Swans. So late in the season if this happens, obviously no black and white running through their veins.
