There is never a dull moment in transfer deadline week and it has now been suggested that Fulham left back Joe Bryan could be a target for the Swans after Sky Sports reported that three Championship clubs were interested.
Fulham, who won promotion to the Premier League last term, have not yet selected Bryan in the league this season and it seems that he is down the pecking order and could be allowed to leave before the window closes on Thursday.
The Swans are known to be in the market for wing backs especially with Ogbeta set to leave the Swansea.com stadium and a long term injury to Joel Latibeaudiere and Bryan certainly is someone who could fit the mould that Russell Martin would be looking for.
He has 44 Premier League appearances to his name on top of 199 in the Championship over spells with both Fulham and Bristol City.ย ย 10 goals and 25 assists is no mean return from those appearances and he has impressed as both a left back and, maybe more importantly, a left wing back.
It was Bryan who scored two goals in the 2020 Championship play off final to win Fulham their previous promotion to the Premier League when they beat Brentford at Wembley.
Sky Sports did not name any of the three Championship clubs that were showing an interest in Bryan but the Swans – because of that need of a left wing back – have been linked in other quarters and this could be a possibility.
Bryan has previously opened up on some of his mental health battles which is a telling insight into some of the battles that a modern day footballer experiences.
The Swans have already strengthened their squad this week with the arrival of Luke Cundle from Wolves and this is expected to be the start of some late flurries of activity – both inwards and outwards – ahead of the closure of the window.
Whether Joe Bryan will be part of that remains to be seen.
Sounds too good to be true
We will do well to recruit this experienced player.
