Swans fans in less than confident mood ahead of Burnley clash

Four wins on the trot can do strange things to the mind and from a position just a month ago where we were looking nervously over our shoulders the Swans go in search of a 5th consecutive win this afternoon when we meet Burnley at Turf Moor.

And whilst there has been a definite shift in confidence in Swans fans during that four week period it is clear that we go into action this afternoon second favourites both with those who set the odds and with the online Swans following it seems.

With 200 votes cast in our matchday thread poll, we see a position where 50% of those who have cast their vote predicting a Burnley win this afternoon with just 17% seeing the Swans coming away with all three points.

Now whilst that may raise more than the odd eyebrow amongst the fanbase (it certainly did for me) it would have been a huge landslide for Burnley a few weeks back – the matchday thread for example against Hull was showing 44% of those voting predicted a Hull victory.

Clearly polls are just there to gauge a cross section of the visitors and of course many would always argue that one medium may never be fully representative of a wider fan base but it still showed somewhere that despite those four wins we still see Burnley as one of the danger sides in this division.ย  ย And probably rightly so.

Its the start of another big week for Russell Martin – or just over a week if you want to be precise – with games against Reading and Cardiff at the Swansea.com being the two that follow but it will be a week that will go one step further in defining what we are at the moment as a team.

Four straight wins shows that we can at least compete at this level, another two in the next week and we could actually start to be taken seriously as promotion candidates.

And maybe then the matchday thread polls will start showing that faith that we can get results in the difficult places as well.
