Russell Martin’s name continues to be linked with the vacant managerial role at Norwich City but the Swans boss is refusing to be drawn on those links and continues to show sympathy for the man sacked at Carrow Road in Dean Smith.
Martin remains one of the favourites for the role that was created when Dean Smith was sacked after the Boxing Day defeat to Luton and Talksport were keen to find out whether the former Canaries defender would be open to a move back to Carrow Road.
“My only thoughts are that I’m really sorry for Dean that he loses his job,” he told them. “I hate the fact that in this game someone loses their job, and rather than talk about that, the first thing someone wants to talk about is who’s going to replace him. So that’s it.”
The linking of Martin has not been universally popular amongst Norwich supporters and there is a wide belief that he would need time to implement his style of play at another club, time that he may not be afforded at a club who is looking for quick promotion to the Premier League following relegation last season.
Norwich are believed to be looking to make a quick appointment to replace Smith.
Norwich sack a manager after a 2 wins and a draw in the last six games for s manager who hasnโt won a games in 7!
