Swansea City look likely to be unchanged for the visit of Burnley this afternoon following Russell Martin’s formation change against Watford on Friday.
The change to a four man defence worked to great effect with a dramatic difference in the directness of play and emphasis on attack – something sorely needed after a run of eight without a win.
And the Swans boss will surely have seen enough to keep the faith with his starting eleven from Friday as the league leaders roll into town.
The two players who have work to do in resurrecting their Swansea City careers are most likely to again be omitted as their futures at the club remain in doubt.
Jamie Paterson and Michael Obafemi were fully fit to participate on Friday against the Hornets but were left out with Martin admitting that the 18 players picked were more deserving of their place.
With the transfer window now open and the Swans desperate to add to the squad it will be interesting to see where both are come February – indeed Obafemi could have been in Burnley’s squad had they managed to get the deal over the line in the summer.
Numerous offers were rejected – as much as ยฃ6m if you believe various media sources – and Obafemi has never really hit the heights since. A parting of the ways would be favourable for all parties.
Ryan Manning and Joel Latibeaudiere could also theoretically be available for sale at a lower price thisย with their contracts expiring in a matter of months and as of yet are unwilling to commit further.
Swansea face Vincent Kompany’s Clarets at 3pm.
