“Unbelievable” – praise for the travelling Jack Army

A 674 mile round trip should not be underestimated as a reflection of a support and passion for a football fan and that was exactly what the travelling Jack Army had to endure yesterday when they made the long trip to the North East.

For many they made a weekend of it with the bars of Newcastle well populated on Saturday evening with some of the 700 strong Jack Army that made the trip but for others it was a long coach drive back down south which saw them arrive back in SA1 in the early hours of this morning.

Of course trips like that are made all the sweeter when your team has delivered three points on the pitch and, thanks to goals from Piroe, Cullen and Cooper, that was exactly what the team did for that travelling support yesterday.

It was a support not lost on the players after the game with both Matt Grimes and Joel Latibeaudiere referencing the fantastic support that the team received in a crowd that exceeded 40,000.

โ€œThe fans were unbelievable โ€ฆ unbelievable!โ€ Grimes told SwanseaCity.com.

โ€œHonestly, hats off to them for making this trip. Theyโ€™ve given up their weekend and come all this way.

โ€œI thought they were fantastic and got us through the times when they were creating chances.

โ€œWeโ€™re so thankful for them and they make more of a difference than they probably realise. We are so pleased we’ve been able to give them a result.”
