Swans boss Russell Martin says walking away from the club after deadline day was never a thought of his as he spoke for the first time this morning following that dreadful transfer window.
Fans across social media were suggesting that the former Norwich defender could leave his position after the owners failed to support the squad with additions in January.
But Martin remains happy with his job and looks to create a siege mentality for the rest of the season although his comments don’t exactly paint the best picture about exactly what is going on behind the scenes ar Swansea City.
Talking specifically about the failed deal for Karlan Grant which would have made him the beat paid player in SA1, he told Wales Online:
“I don’t know the financial details, thatโs not my job, but that wasnโt the plan.
“We didnโt work on him for four or five weeks. I’m pretty sure that wasnโt anyoneโs plan to pay that player that much.
“Thatโs not how we work. A lot more players were discussed that were far better value.
“By the time Josh and Julian take it to Jason, and I speak to Steve and Jake regularly, I don’t speak to Jason as much.
“He deals with Josh and Julian. They offer a lot of support. By the time we deliver something we feel is good for the club, so much hard work has gone into it.
“Josh and Julian I donโt think can be held accountable. Thatโs not me blaming anyone, thatโs me being really honest with you.
“I donโt think we have any other choice but to be honest.”
Much to ponder.
Some strange comments there – not his usual clarity mmmm
Fair play Russell instead of whinging you make the best of a very shoddy piece of work
