Rangers – I’m sorry I was crap for you but Whittaker move isn’t up to me

Russell Martin this morning spoke for the first time following the conclusion of a very dissatisfactory January transfer window which saw no senior first team player signed yet six depart.

Throughout the month there was plenty of discussion around Morgan Whittaker and his move to Rangers which saw the Scottish giants come back with a number of bida all of which were rejected.

That ultimately resulted in the forward remaining in South Wales despite the best attempts of Michael Beale and his team North of the border.

Martin says Whittaker will be in the squad for tomorrow’s game against Birmingham City and reiterated that his relationship with the player is good.

He told Wales Online: “Morgan’s back. The whole thing about Morgan, I’ve got a brilliant relationship with him.

“I hope that’ll show in the next three months. He understood why I wanted him to go out on loan and play football.

“The amount of work Josh did to stay in contact with him and he’s come back and not been frustrated with me,

“I didn’t make the decision to call him back. Again, it’s not in my control.

“He’ll be in the squad tomorrow. I’ve had Rangers fans message me on linkedin saying let him go.

“I apologised to them saying sorry I was crap at your club but it’s not my decision.”
