Is Kaplan here to end the Martin regime?

Another day and another loss for the Swans but tongues were wagging amongst the fanbase at the sight of one of the club’s owners at The Den this evening.

Steve Kaplan, the very much unseen American, was in attendance as Swansea lost 2-1 against Gary Rowett’s Millwall and perhaps he was there for a reason? And not the lovely burgers either.

It’s been fairly apparent for some time that Russell Martin’s time has been up at the club with speculation that perhaps he will remain in place until the summer before a full review of his position.

But with the team’s predicament looking all the more precarious by the week (now down to an eight point gap to the bottom three) there is perhaps some urgency that a decision needs to be made sooner rather than later.

Indeed 3 wins in 23 games is enough for any manager to get the sack – perhaps the Americans owners have now decided that his time is up?

Kaplan hasn’t attended a Swansea match for over two years and resigned as a director in 2020 but still retains his stake in the club and is known to be one of the main decisions makers alongside Jason Levein and Jake Silverstein.

For now, we wait and see.

  1. In a word – no . The longer they can have a free ride they will .Look at their other sporting โ€˜interestsโ€™.They run the teams on a bare minimum and pocket what they can. There is no planning in volved in any of them and they are all near the bottom .They are running us with the same intent as DC United and th e team in Brisbane .Donโ€™t get excited Martinโ€™s with us for a while yet.

  2. Martin says hes been told hes “going nowhere” so your right Wyn.
What a shamble that a smug git like Martin can go half a season winning 3 games and
be puzzled what all the fuss is about

  3. We show no signs of improving ,Every game is a photocopy of the game before .Yet we blunder on in the middle of a malaise .All the time genuine supporters are gettig frustrated and losing interest .Whatever attendance figure they throw up on the big screen your eyes tell you that the crowds are disappearing at a stesdy rate . Next seasonโ€™s seaon ticket sales will tell the real story .
When you think of the number of vital players who will surely besold in the summer and th type of replacements the Yanks wiil allow in itโ€™s extremely worrying . These may turn out to be very dark days .
Most of us can remember the Petty days and this period in its own way is beginning to be just as worrying .
Three wins in the equivalent of half a season and if we believe last nightโ€™s news the manager told heโ€™s โ€˜going nowhereโ€™ .

  4. We buy 3 players from MK Dons who Martin wanted and who finished 15th in league1 .Is it any wonder we cant defend. Kyle Naughton has gone from being a regular to not having any play time. Surely he can’t be worse than the 3 we are playing. Fisher is sorry a disaster waiting to happen every game but he will still pick him and not give the loanee a chance. I watch every game and cringe now with the way we defend.

  5. All the above comments are spot on. And it’s the same crap that Martin comes out with.
I have already purchased my season ticket for next season, a big mistake I think paying to watch League One football.

  6. Hey Wyn, I hear someone is going to replace you because your bosses didn’t back you oh and everyone hates you because the people you work with constantly let you down. Grow up, there are human beings with families that you key board warriors should remember. Your Swansea….what are you expecting to happen, you punched way above your whieght for a bit and now you think it’s a entitlement, have you lost reality

  7. The owners brought in Martin for his style of play. To play total football you require decent players, yet they’ve have done nothing but sell players since his arrival, made next to no signings to improve or bolster the squad. It’s the youngest squad in the hardest league, and youngsters make mistakes, that’s part of learning. You can’t live a champagne lifestyle on lemonade wages. On a positive note, the 9 remaining games, of which are against teams below mid table and 0 in the top 7, so there’s every chance of a strong finish.
