It seems incredible when you think of a season where we won less than a handful of games in more than twenty games that we go into the last two games of that season still within a chance of reaching the play offs.
Hard to decide whether that tells you much about how weak this division can be or how good we can be when we are on form but as the division’s in form team that tells you much about how well we can play and we have to try and keep that run going to keep the unlikely dream alive.
It wont be lost on most of us how unlikely it was that we got into the play offs in the first season under Steve Cooper but Russell Martin leading his side there this time around would be equally – or arguably more – unlikely.
The chances remain remote and we are so reliant on other teams at the moment but Millwall’s win at Blackpool last night will not have helped but the dream remains alive although whether it is come the end of play today is exceptionally doubtable.
The permutations are many so speculation is best left to the forum discussion as to what may happen in the other games that can have an impact but for the Swans all they can do is look to win the game, something that Russell Martin is clearly focused on
โTo do what we are doing at the moment in this league is not easy, with the youth of the squad and on the back of the run we were on,” said the Swans boss when looking forward to the match.
โAll those factors make it so impressive and I a having a lot of fun watching the players, I am having a lot of fun working with them every day.
โI think they are having a lot of fun on the pitch, which is showing, and I think the supporters are having a lot of fun watching in the stands, as well.
โItโs been a nice period and we really want to keep it going. We want to win.โ
Liam Walsh and Jay Fulton could feature although there is a growing expectation that Martin will go with an unchanged side from the one that impressed so heavily at Norwich last weekend.ย ย That win was one of the most impressive performances of the season and more of the same today will surely be too much for the Tigers to cope with.
Whatever happens today though full credit has to be given to Martin and all the team around him for the way that this season has ended.ย ย Some strong performances and great results have lifted them to this chance and – with two games left – last season’s points tally has been eclipsed which would certainly have been the first goal of the season when we started back in August.
So for one last road trip of the season (maybe) the Jack Army is on the move and we hope that the dream still is alive come 5pm this evening.ย ย Time will tell.
