The Silverstein rant continued – more harm than good being done again

Jake Silverstein was back on Twitter yesterday evening to add to his earlier missive that Martin would want the owners blamed for his (soon to be) departure and says that from his side it’s pretty clear that nobody knows what is going on.

Messaging a Swans fan, the owner said that there was much dishonesty about what was going on behind the scenes and that there is lots of money to spend in the summer and that the lack of signings in the January window was down to no deals worth doing being bought to the table.

Put to one side the detail of these conversations for one minute it is absolutely incredible to actually see this kind of conversation playing out in the way that it is particularly as the departure of Martin is not yet official.ย  ย What was that statement again mumbled by Andy Coleman about speculation in the public domain?

Unprofessional probably does not even come close to describing this kind of release of information or a conversation with any Swans fan and that is said with no disrespect to the fan who has had these conversations who should be applauded for bringing it to the public domain.

There are many ways of showing dignity in a professional world and the way that Silverstein has gone about this is as far from that as you can probably get.ย  ย Add to that the disdain shown in another social media post yesterday evening by a minority shareholder in the ownership group and pretty much any credit the owners had within the fanbase has been spent and placed into deficit over the last 24 hours alone.ย  ย Something that can be placed firmly at the feet of Jake Silverstein.

He went on in his messages “He (Russ) wasn’t lied to.ย  ย And he wasn’t not backed.ย  ย There has been a lot of dishonesty about how things actually happened behind the scenes.

“We were willing to spend money in January.ย  ย They didn’t bring us any deals worth doing.ย  ย There’s plenty of money to spend this summer, that’s why we’re making major changes to the football department – to make sure it’s done better than it’s been done in the past.

“It’s also pretty surreal to have fans (who have no idea what’s actually gone on or what the conversations have been or what’s said or done) talking to me like they know first hand what’s happened in my actual life and work.ย  It’s really bizarre.”

Whether there is more to come or not remains to be seen but Silverstein needs to step out of his DMs and focus on the job in hand which will be seemingly the search for a new manager to spend the “plenty” of money available in the summer.

To spend time sending these messages justifying whatever decisions were taken (and this is where he is right there will be plenty of information we do not know about or what was or wasn’t said) in this manner is not the way to approach it and, rightly so, he has been criticised widely for it.ย  ย I wonder what Andy Coleman is thinking considering his own stance on the recent speculation on Winter and Marsh.

    • Just goes to show what type of owners we have passing the blame on to other people when it is thyer fault on how things are handled at the club no investment coming in they are using the club to raise money for themselves and to keep them shareholders happy and it just goes to show Silverstein put money into the club just to be made one of the directors and what right has he got to mouth of about things another puppet for Levien and Kaplan the club will go nowhere while that lot are still in charge money grabbers that is wot they are I have been a supporter of the Swans for well over fifty years and I am so disappointed in the way things are being run at the club worse owners the club have ever had and I blame them for the club being relegated from the Premiership.

  1. Can’t understand why Russell would want to go to Southampton Leicester yes. Saints started a project with Nathan Jones but as soon as it got rough they sacked him. They are talking about a new manager while they have someone in place no class. If midway through next season with Russell in charge things aren’t going their way he will go the same way.

  2. No investment,no commitment , no knowledge = NO HOPE. We seemed to be making progress for a while, but now we have even more Americans to screw our club. They need to be careful of what they wish for even more importantly SCFC fans need to be careful what the Americans wish for. Their record to date is hardly to be regarded as a success of any description. There is no doubt in my mind that they will take us down, by which time they will have stripped the club of any assets that might have been still available. My worry at the moment is that they may have another American lined up as our next manager. Who could forget blundering Bob Bradley. It is a frightening time. From a supporter of 58 years.
