Andy Coleman may not have liked the way that it first hit the public domain but on the day that it seems set for Russell Martin to leave the club then it has been confirmed that Julian Winter will be leaving as well.
The reality was there was never likely to be a place for Winter given the appointment of Coleman and the supposed incoming of Paul Watson from Luton so seeing Winter leave was the only outcome that the other two appointments were likely to precede.
Winter arrived at the club following the departure of Trevor Birch three years ago but his reign has been far from a successful one and he will always be the man that was at the helm (although appreciated not in total control) of possibly the worst transfer window in our history back in January – a window where we failed to make a single signing.
At the time of writing the club are yet to formally announce his departure.
Winter had previously served as chief executive at Sheffield United, Watford and Huddersfield Town.
