Today’s reports suggest that Plymouth Argyle boss Steven Schumacher has turned down the chance to manage Swansea City and stay at Plymouth as they set out on their return to Championship football.
This was reported by Football Insider who claimed that the Swans targetted Schumacher as a possible replacement for Russell Martin who is still set to join Southampton despite the stand off over the compensation payments.
The report though says that Schumacher has ruled himself out of the running and will remain at Home Park.
The news comes just 24 hours after it was reported that another target – Chris Davies – would be joining the backroom staff at Spurs and leaves the Swans still looking at other options of which there are believed to be several under consideration.
It has been suggested though to us that there has been no approach from the Swans to Schumacher and therefore this story for me should be taken with more than a large pinch of salt but that is up to everyone to decide for themselves.
There could be multiple reasons for this – one being a smokescreen to divert attention away from our real targets or it could easily be something concocted from the Argyle end to earn extra favour with the fans for Schumacher who was also linked with Huddersfield shortly after the season ends.
Either way it hasn’t happened and I’m doubting if it ever was a “thing”
I am not sure Schumacher needs to win any more favour with the Plymouth fansโฆseems to me like they love him enough already after the what they achieved last season.
Correct, we’d carry him through the streets on our shoulders if he asked, we know he’ll go one day and with our best wishes but it’ll be a bigger club than Swansea that attract him.
Another great article very absorbing and informative.
The question is raised as well was he even approached? If that is the case my difficulty is can you turn down a job or accept it you haven’t been offered it
So did he or didn’t he or was he or wasn’t he?
And the answer is the same for all
Don’t know. Thanks for that
I’m sure I am not the only one who can’t wait for the next article but it’s going to be hard to beat
Nature abhors a vacuum.
Ignore the negative comments Phil, they couldnโt be more anonymous If they tried.
Itโs not as if we are making a load of cash ๐๐
It’s a shame Keith that people like to run down the work that the likes of you and Phil do on a daily basis. Whats even more odd is that the likes of samandjanet still come on and read and then make the negative comment. Probably tells you much about how unfulfilled their lives are.
He’s waiting for the Everton job which will surely come.
