Michael Duff and Swanea City continued the process of building his coaching staff yesterday with the appointment of both Alan Sheehan and Martin Paterson who joined as head coaches.
With the confirmation earlier in the week of the departures that followed Russell Martin out of the club it was a rebuild that was necessary and once again the Swans have shown that they have been working behind the scenes to make sure that the react at the earliest opportunity with full credit to Paul Watson and all working on this for making it happen.
Sheehan had a host of clubs during a career that took him to the likes of Leicester, Swindon and Luton Town whilst he has held first team coaching positions at both Luton and Southampton as well as a player-coach role at Oldham before he moved into full time coaching.
Paterson, meanwhile, played with new Swans boss Duff for Burnley and Northern Ireland, helping the Clarets secure promotion to the Premier League in 2009.ย He also had a wide range of clubs in his playing career which included Bristol CIty, Blackpool and Orlando City.
Both coaches have joined up with the Squad in Spain and will work alongside Duff and Kris O’Leary who remains part of the coaching staff.
The position of the goalkeeper coach remains unfilled and with the club stating “Further updates regarding the first-team coaching staff will be made in due course” we do think this is close to being completed.
The name of Martyn Margetson is being suggested a possible addition to the coaching staff.ย A familiar name to Swans fans having worked at the club from 2019-2021 he is being tipped for a return under Duff although nothing official has been confirmed.ย He has of course also been a successful coach in the England international set up.
