Morgan Whittaker is another one of those players that looks set for a Swansea City exit this summer.ย ย For many it is probably surprising that he is still here given the club’s clear desire to sell the player back in January.
Whittaker has never really settled to a run of appearances here in Swansea with former Swans boss Russell Martin clearly not a fan and used the player very sparingly after the move away from SA1 failed to materialise in January.
It was reasonably obvious when we recalled him from what was a successful loan spell at Plymouth that we wanted to sell him on but we held firm on our pricing belief for the player despite moves from Rangers and he stayed at Swansea for the remainder of the season.
Interest from Ibrox resurfaced at the start of this window but that has cooled recently and that seems to have left the door open for Plymouth to take him back to Home Park as they prepare for their return to the Championship following promotion last season.
Whittaker was not present in the Swans 5-0 win over Swindon yesterday which prompted increases in rumours that his departure from the club was imminent and that Plymouth seems to be the destination to which he heads.
How much truth there is on that remains to be seen but what doesn’t seem in any doubt is that he will depart the Swansea.com this season and that we know Steven Schumacher is a fan which means Plymouth is an obvious – even if it is not a certain – destination.
Whittaker himself appears as a man who does want to move on and with the arrival of Jerry Yates you would assume that – even if Piroe is sold – his game time is going to be limited and there has been more than one suggestion that the agreement has been made that he can leave as soon as the Swans valuation is met.
Whether Plymouth have done that remains to be seen.
It is hard to see him staying .Youโd have to say heโs been poorly treated by us and thst a fresh start is the only way forward .
He was poorly treated by Martin, not the Club.
His head has now been turned away from SA1, and thereโs no turning back it seems.
I understand that despite what I read in some of the media not all interest from his suitors has cooled, and we hope to get decent $ to create an opening in that space.
I think hes talented. He maybe doesnt suit either current or past managers so why not, if Plymouth cant pay a decent fee, let him out on loan there for the season. If hes good enough his value will rise anyway
Let him go on loan have a good season then his value will go up then give Argyle the option to buy him
We donโt see him in training, he canโt be impressing , if he was standing out he would be in the team . Good luck to him I hope he does well
Morgan was a big part of Argyleโs success in the first half of last season. Can drift out of games and needs to improve the defensive side of his game, but always liable to produce a piece of magic. The lad is talented – he just needs the opportunity and environment to flourish. Would love to see Morgan back at Home Park next season.
As well as the rest of the Green Army!
Get home son ๐๐
Whittaker is back at Argyle ๐๐๐๐๐๐
A great signing if it all goes through. I think he enjoyed it here and the green army loved him. Think schuuy will make him an even better player.
Brilliant, he’s Home ๐ Green Army ๐๐๐๐๐ !!!
