West Brom v Swansea City – How the managers preview it

Carlos Corberan and Michael Duff will go head to head tomorrow in the second league game of the summer with one looking to preserve an unbeaten start to the season and the other searching for his first positive result after two defeats in the two competitive games played.

It was little wonder that they had differing viewpoints as they looked ahead to the game:

Carlos Corberan:ย “Swansea are a team with a lot of good players, theyโ€™ve had a very good summer. They know how to play football, they understand spaces and they want to have the ball.

“We will try to use all of our strengths and impact on their weaknesses to make us as competitive as we can be, what they do is not up to us, itโ€™s not something we can control.

“We always want to win the football games, but wanting to win is only a desire. To make it happen we need to control the games in all the aspects we can, to have more control, and thatโ€™s always my focus.

“Theyโ€™re going to be competitive, the only difference between us last season was goal difference, so we know that weโ€™re going against a club that we know have a good team, a good coach and will be a nice challenge to face.”

Michael Duff:ย โ€œWeโ€™ve come through Tuesdayโ€™s game well.

โ€œThe numbers were high in terms of physicality which showed in the performance. Because we ran hard, that made the game easier and we came through it well.

โ€œEveryone came through it. Ben Cabango is fine, he trained today but resting him was just a precaution.

โ€œMykola and Josh need time. Weโ€™re having to bring them up on the job, but we have good squad depth.โ€
