Carl Rushworth has said that the Swans are ready for the two derbies they face in the next week with Sunday’s trip to Ashton Gate being followed by the home game against Cardiff City on Saturday week.
Fuelled by losing both the opposite fixtures earlier in the season, the Swans will be keen to avoid either doing a league double over us and the on loan goalkeeper has told the BBC that the team are looking forward to both fixtures.
The first of them takes place this Sunday lunchtime before the same kick off time (12.30pm) is needed for the Saturday lunchtime game against Cardiff where the Bluebirds will go for a first ever league double over the Swans having been on the end of four straight defeats before that game earlier in the season.
The Swans go into the game on the back of three games unbeaten and Luke Williams will be hoping his squad can take that to at least five after the two games and Rushworth is clearly looking forwardย “The lads are up for it (Bristol City) and Cardiff – the lads have been looking towards those games,” Rushworth told BBC Sport.
“It’s really good we have a bit of momentum after the last two wins and now a draw going into them.
“They are big derbies and all the lads are psyched up for it. We need to get back at them because obviously the results did not go our way last time.”
There has been some debate in the last two weeks on the future of Rushworth next season after Luke Williams backtracked on his initial statement that the keeper was on loan in SA1 again next season.ย ย The Brighton goalkeeper has been one of the bright spots in a pretty dismal season for the Swans but he says he is not certain yet of his future for next season.
ย “I have no idea,” added Rushworth.ย “I spoke to Brighton and spoke to Margs here. I said my main focus here is to finish the season strong.
“There are 10 more league games to get as many points as we can on the board and work our way up the table.
“That’s all I have been focusing on, the outside noise can only distract me.
“I have been taking a step up from League Two and League One.
“I am working my way up the pyramid and at the end of the day that is what I wanted to get out of this loan.
“I wanted to enjoy it and get as many minutes as I could under my belt and build that experience in the Championship.”
