Luke Williams was quick to reference Leighton James at the end of the 4-0 win at Huddersfield yesterday afternoon as he dedicated the win to Leighton James who sadly passed away on Friday.
James, who played ninety-eight times for the club, was the subject of many tributes from around the football world and the Swans wore black armbands in respect for the passing of someone who wore the white shirt with such magnificence.
Maybe it was more than fitting that so much of the Swans danger in the last twenty minutes was coming down the left hand side of the pitch after the introduction of Jamal Lowe which was the catalyst to the Swans scoring four goals inside twenty minutes to bring the points back to South Wales with their biggest win of the season.
Talking about the legend after the game Williams said โWe spoke about him as a squad.
โWe said, on a day like today, let’s make sure that we do him proud. We are privileged to be at a special football club, and we are talking about someone who is held in regard as one of its finest servants.
โIโm hoping that heโs happy, that he feels we respected the club that heโs a legend at, and his place in its history. I feel we did that today.โ
