Swansea City increase bid for winger to over a million

Swansea City are continuing to show their intent to land one of their summer transfer targets by increasing their bid for winger Eom Ji-sung.ย  The reported bid for the player is now – according to reports – standing at $1.2m, around $200,000 up on their initial move for the player.

It is becoming increasingly clear that we have a determination to land this player with the increased bid reported by Korean journalist Seo Ho-Jeong and shared by journalise Ross Davis.

The player has said he is keen to further his career abroad and it is now widely speculated that this increase in fee from the Swans will be enough to secure a transfer for the player.

“We are well aware of Eom Ji-sung’s strong will to advance overseas,” said his club on Friday.ย  “The club also has no intention of blocking Eom Ji-sung’s overseas advancement for the player’s future.”

So, will the transfer happen? K League clubs are often unwilling to let clubs go over the summer, which is the middle of the Korean system, a few deals do go through every year. This summer has already seen Ulsan HD star Seol Young-woo move to Red Star Belgrade, and Eom could follow in his footsteps.

Gwangju are currently in some financial difficulties that could lead to dire repercussions for the club – just a few week ago they were accused of overstating their expected revenue and misrepresenting player transfer fees meaning they violated standards set by the leagueโ€™s finance committee to ensure greater stability implemented this year.ย  ย Because of this the likelihood of them wanting to sell increased and it does appear that this will come in to our advantage more than anything.

And with the increased bid it is clear that we see the player as a key target of our summer activity and the early move and desire has to be commended at this stage.
