Swansea City are said to be on the verge of completing a move for midfielder Gonçalo Franco from Moreirense.

The Record reports that the deal is agreed and the player is already on his way to join up with the Swans having left the pre-season training camp of Moreirense.

He had one year left on his contract and is said to have been one of their main assets.

Initial research on the player suggests he is very much a versatile midfielder – something desperately needed in our central areas and certainly adds comfort to some of the work that we are doing this summer which is taking us beyond the boundaries of the UK and seeing us snap up players from elsewhere – something we used to be particularly good at.

Interestingly it was reported back in May that Galatasary were in the final stages of a move for the player with reports at the time suggesting it could be as high as 2 million Euros.   Aside from that level of transfer fee his weekly wage is not likely to break the bank at the Swans which could lead to us paying a higher up front fee?

Time will tell on this one but an interesting move and one that we should hear news on relatively quickly.

Been watching the Swans since the very late 1970s and running the Planet Swans website (in all its current and previous guises since the summer of 2001 As it stood JackArmy.net was right at the forefront of some of the activity against Tony Petty back in 2001, breaking many of the stories of the day as fans stood against the actions where the local media failed. Was involved with the Swans Supporters Trust from 2005, for the large part as Chairman before standing down in the summer of 2020.

Good news, hope it works out for both parties.

The article highlights him as a playmaker but the highlight reel most of it very much highlights how strong he is defensively. Feels like an upgrade on Jay and alternative to Allen rather than an attacking midfielder.

2 goals and 4 assists in 35 games seems to paint that picture as well. A better partner for Grimes is also something we have been crying out for and this seems targeted at that from what I can tell.

We were rumoured to be chasing a holding midfielder when Duff was at the helm, looks like the data is suggesting a holder is needed in all likely hood to help the back 4 out also.

Like the look of this lad alongside Grimes. If we can get a bit more goal threat up top and winger/no 10 then there are certainly signs to be happy with 🤞

Just watched his showreel and the first thing that struck me is that he is very reminiscent of Flynnley Downes, just a bit more rough around the edges.

Excited by this one.

Now… goalkeeper, centre back and striker x 2 to go.

When Joe was out of the side, there was hardly anybody making themselves available to the 2 centre halves. Hate slagging individuals but I clocked the Polish lad turn his back on Cabango when he was in acres of space.
We were spoilt in this area for so long with Leon.
Fingers crossed, this lad is the answer.
