It is one of the worst kept secrets of the summer that the Swans are in the market for a new goalkeeper.ย With Carl Rushworth now back at Brighton and Andy Fisher seemingly already told he will not hold the first choice position next season the question has long since been more around when the Swans would move for a keeper rather than anything else.
Speculation around many transfers has been exceptionally quiet this summer and the position of the keeper probably hasn’t been helped by Martyn Margetson’s extended stay in Germany this summer as part of the England coaching set up.
However the rumour mill has now started it’s work and the name of Lawrence Vigouroux has been suggested by a few sources in the North West as a target for the Swans.ย The keeper signed a three year deal at Turf Moor last summer having previously had spells at Brentford, Tottenham and Liverpool with then manager Vincent Kompany saying at the time โHe has come through top Academy systems to become the player he is today with standout performances in recent years.
โHe is a very talented goalkeeper with a good personality and someone we will enjoy working with.โ
Vigouroux played youth football at Brentford and Spurs before joining Liverpool in 2014. He did not break into the first-team at Anfield and joined Swindon permanently in 2016 after a successful loan spell.
Having pledged his international allegiance to Chile, for whom he qualifies through one of his parents, he later had a short stint at Everton de Vina del Mar in the South American country.
He returned to the UK and joined Orient in 2020. He excelled for the London club and kept 24 clean sheets in their successful league campaign of 2022/23 in which they won promotion from League Two.
However, he didn’t make a single appearance for Burnley last season as they were relegated from the Premier League and it has been speculated that he will be on his way out of Turf Moor which is said to have alerted the Swans who are keen to move for him.
The keeper is known to Swans boss Luke Williams from their time together at Swindon.
