Former Swansea midfielder Jamie Paterson is reportedly being lined-up for a move to the MLS with Dean Smith’s side Charlotte FC according to reports on social media.
The attacking midfielder spent three season in SA1 but couldn’t agree new terms despite reiterating his desire to remain in South Wales earlier this year.
“It’s quite obvious I would want to stay,” Paterson told BBC Sport Wales in March..
“There is no reason for me to want to move away.
“I love being at this club, I have the whole time, with the new manager coming in as well, it gives you even more confidence. There would no reason for me to go elsewhere but at the same time, it’s not up to me.”
At 32,ย Paterson enjoyed a largely fruitful spell in Swansea with 17 goals and 17 assists in 109 games; a goal contribution every 3 appearances at Championship level is not to be sniffed at.
Joining from Bristol City in 2021, he built a strong partnership with Joel Piroe before a rather public fall-out which saw him spend a couple of months out of the team.
The move (should it go ahead) will end any lingering suggestions that Paterson could return to the Swansea.com Stadium this summer with options particularly in a forward area remaining at a premium.
All has gone quiet on Ruben Providence and Noel Milleskog whilst links with Kaide Gordon from Liverpool have gone much the same way with the transfer window slamming shut in just nine days time.
Are you busy, Andy and Paul?
