Swansea manager Luke Williams was predictably a happy man after his Swansea side battled through the game to secure a 1-0 win and record a second league win of the season.
A fourth minute own goal proved to be the crucial moment in the game but Williams saw much to take away as a positive from the game as his side put in a strong team performance to ensure the result was a positive as we all wanted it to be.
โThat was a huge effort against a really tough opposition, so I am pleased with that,โ said the Swans boss.
โI also thought in the first half in particular we played some very good football and controlled the majority of the game.
โSo there is a lot to be happy about, the big challenge for the group after the last game was to have that energy and intensity from the start.
โWe were really aggressive with and without the ball, and I think we just about deserved the victory even though they put a lot of pressure on us towards the end of the game.
โThey are a really good side, and that was a big win and a big performance from us.โ
There is little that can be argued with when you reflect on what Williams has said – the Swans did battle hard to win the ball back when they had the ball and their midfield in particular excelled at that part with a high intensity performance.
โWhen you look at the core of the team, and we almost take the skipper for granted because he is so consistently good, Ollie Cooper and Liam Cullen really led from the front with so much energy and creativity.
โThen Franco was really bright for us going forward, he made some big tackles and recovery runs for us, and he is a bit of an action man really. It was a really good performance.โ
Williams also had a word for Ben Cabango who made a contender for tackle of the season late on to ensure that the Swans goal remained intactย โThat is as good as a goal, I mean what a tackle,โ said the Swans boss.
โHe and Harry Darling headed so many balls out the box, and the full-backs dealt with a lot of challenging one v one situations and I love to see that side of the team.
โI would prefer to see us really in control, but it is great to see that when we come under pressure we can withstand that.”
