Luke Williams was in a praising mood when he reflected back on the Swans 1-1 draw at Luton this afternoon and he singled out many positives that he thought the Swans could take from the game.
Williams saw captain Matt Grimes score a second half equaliser that was straight off the training pitch and that meant it was Alan Sheehan who wads called out for praise for a move that he described as a ‘masterclass’. It was a corner from Josh Tymon that found Matt Grimes and the captain fired a powerful shot into the top of the net to bring the Swans level after their trailed from a first half goal from Adebayo.
“We deserved at least a point and another masterclass for the goal from set pieces,” said Williams. “This was the exact action we practiced – it was a really well worked routine.”
Grimes goal was icing on the cake for the skipper and it is clear that Williams is full of admiration for his captain who he added “deserves every bit of credit he gets. He scored a great goal and then in the 95th minute he runs half the length of the pitch to cover the counter attack. He is a class act and we are incredibly lucky to have him.
“I thought it was really tough conditions with the surface cutting up from the first minute but I thought we played really well against really tough opposition.”
The weather conditions left the game in some doubt this morning but Williams was also full of praise for the 1,295 Swans fans who made the trip to Bedfordshire which included a group who paid £900 to get there in a taxi after their train was cancelled.
“The choir as we call them give us incredible energy. We stood there and showed our appreciation at the end and I said to Liam Cullen they were as good as he was today!
“I think we should be really confident in ourselves, everyone knows how difficult it is to play here and we should go to the next game really positive that we can win our next game of football.”
