Birmingham City and Bristol City are both being credited with having interest in Swans defender Harry Darling after the Swans admitted that contract talks with the defender were likely being shelved until the end of the season.
The Swans had been hoping to tie up a contract for Darling in the same vein as they had recently for both ben Cabango and Liam Cullen but Luke Williams admitted earlier in the week that “I think we are potentially going to be putting that to bed and letting Harry concentrate on his football.”
The Swans have already had one bid rejected for Wycombe defender Joe Low and seem to be preparing for replacing Darling although multiple reports have suggested that even if we are successful for our move for Low then it doesn’t necessarily mean that Darling will be leaving.
However, yesterday evening journalist Darren Witcoop posted on Twitter that both Bristol City and Birmingham City were keen on Darling. Bristol City we know have been in for him before whilst Birmingham are seemingly on a run that will secure them a return to the Championship before the season ends.
Bristol City keen on signing Swansea defender Harry Darling. Darling is out of contract in the summer with talks over a new deal currently shelved. Birmingham also fans of Darling. #bristolcity #scfc #SwanseaCity #bcfc #birminghamcity

There have been some suggestions that the Swans could even cash in on Darling before the current window ends but surely you would assume that any move on that front would need to see us bring in a new defensive target before that happens. And that takes us back to Joe Low and our move there – you would anticipate some further updates on that in the reasonably near future.
Interest in Darling at this stage should not really be a surprise given his performances for the Swans for large parts of this season and the links with Bristol City will not be a surprise nor, if you think logically, should the Birmingham ones be. I suspect as well that these will be only two of potentially a handful or more of clubs who will show an interest and there will be much more discussion on this subject before January is out.
For now though, no real news to see here. Not yet anyway!
