Swans target French winger Mvuka for late January deal

Sources in France report that negotiations are taking place between Swansea City and Ligue 2 club Lorient for 22 year old Norwegian right winger Joel Mvuka.

The wide man has three goals this season for Lorient (who paid €6.5m for him in 2022) and is recognised for searing pace – something that the Swans have been lacking for what seems like 10 seasons or more.

According to Norwegian newspaper outlet Nettavisen, the Mvuka is available to leave his club in January for pastures new and an agreement is “close” after negotiations in recent days with Swansea.

It states: “The former Bodø/Glimt winger Joel Mvuka can leave France’s Lorient, Nettavisen is informed. According to sources in France,

Championship club Swansea have made a bid for the winger. The clubs are in negotiations for an agreement before the transfer window closes in a few days and it should be close.

If the final details fall into place, Mvuka will replace the second-highest level in France with the equivalent in England.”

Valued at €3m on Transfermarkt.com, the Norway U21 international has 11 goals and 16 assists in 107 career appearances so far, 30 of which were in European competitions.

A career which has seen him play for Young Boys as well as Lorient, it was at Bodo-Glimt where he played most of his football in his homeland.

It should be a busy few days in SA1.

We certainly seem to be targeting the right profile of player since last summer

We better not be planning on spending much on him. Another 5ft 8 weakling with a poor scoring record.

His present club spent about 4.5M to sign him in 2023 so will likely cost a bit.
It will be less than 4.5m as it hasn't really worked.

Why are we bothering? We've already got Bianchini, Ronald, Eom, Ginnelly, MPH

A few days ago it was a L Orient player and now it’s a Lorient player.

Is someone reading the blueprint wrong?

0 assists in 806m, he'll fit well with our current crop
