It is with profound sadness that we mark the passing of Dudley Lewis, a former Swansea City player, who left us at the age of 62. His sudden departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him and admired his contributions to the beautiful game.

Dudley Lewis was more than just a footballer; he was an integral part of Swansea City’s history, a player who embodied the spirit and passion of the club. While the specifics of his playing career – his positions, the exact number of appearances, and the goals he scored – may reside in the annals of football history, his impact on those who watched him and played alongside him is etched in memory.

For many fans, Dudley represented a golden era, a time when the Swans fought tooth and nail on the pitch, creating moments of joy and despair that forged an unbreakable bond with their supporters. He played with a commitment and dedication that was palpable, leaving everything on the field for the badge he wore.

Beyond his on-field endeavors, Dudley was known for his character. He was a humble man, approachable and always willing to share a moment with fans. He carried himself with dignity, both in victory and defeat, earning the respect of his peers and the adoration of the Jack Army.

His passing at a relatively young age is a stark reminder of the fragility of life. While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the life he lived and the joy he brought to so many. His legacy will undoubtedly live on through the memories of his performances, the stories shared by those who watched him, and the enduring spirit of Swansea City Football Club, to which he contributed so much.

Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to Dudley’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. May they find comfort in the outpouring of love and respect from the football community.

Rest in peace, Dudley Lewis. You will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.

Was the captain when I first started watching the Swans under Tommy H then Yorath.
He seemed like a CB years ahead of his time as Dudley could also play too, whereas back then centre backs were of your no nonsense type.
RIP and condolences to his family.

RiP Dudley. Very good player and did the job no-nonsense. An important part of our successful season that culminated on one of th best days of my life at Deepdale when we reached Division One.

Watched him have a corker of a game for Wales v Brazil at Ninian Park.

What a player, thrown into the first team in 1981 as a boy and came out a man. R.i.p.
