The Blind Leading The Blind

Many on here said Boo Hiss and that i took his words out of context and they seemed to win the day however as I said at the time he is hardly likely to say the words the season is over as this would knock a few thousand off the remaining home gates. Flynn is very adept at saying a lot but not saying anything meaningful and the above comment is about as good a Flynnism as you will get. The season is now effectively over then, ok admittedly the performance today was not as abject as Tuesday but for most of the afternoon we were second best to a side just above the relegation zone (have i heard that somewhere before this season). Connor had by all accounts an encouraging start and lets hope he partners Trundle for as many of the remaining games as possible this season. So using his words what do we now look forward to and what have we just witnessed. Fair play to the Wrexham fans they did say that he would baffle and frustrate us in equal measure and he is certainly doing that, his continual use of a 4-3-3 system looks outmoded and threadbare and the sides he picks look half fit even before the half time whistle. Having been so frustrated at our consistent lack of ability in disposing of sides there for the taking this year, I thought i’d do a bit of finding out so here goes His record so far in the league is P72 of which 24 wins, 22 draws and 26 defeats, so as you can see not the messiah that some suggest and maybe not the ogre that others do, to me it shows what we really are, a very inconsistent 3rd Division side a team that can beat or lose to any team it bloody well chooses to play against. We are ranked 6th in the league against the top half sides but rank an awful 12th when it comes to playing the bottom half sides this is not merely a statistic but exactly pinpoints where the frustration is emanating from. Despatch Huddersfield,Stags,Yeovil but play so abjectively against the dregs. Some say the players should take some of the blame and of course they should as they are professionals and they should not need motivating, but that’s not the real world as we know it. It is up to Management to ensure their staff are fully motivated at all times, Flynn is failing in this regard, a lot has been said of the spirit of the squad, but for many performances this season that has been nowhere to be seen. Money has been available since the start of the year for new players and finally in the middle of March we get Paul Connor. Well, good players are difficult to get say some, ok then, we have the 7th best defence in the Division, frightening really as many of us feel this is our weakness. However we are only the 11th most potent attack and only 1 player in double figures this season, it should have been evident to Flynn for a long time that up front is where he should look but he has steadfastly refused/failed to acknowledge this. His support in front of the camera for Trundle has been evident his “en camera” work for the other forwards has not been so forthcoming. I hope Connor starts brightly he may feel cold in about 6 months time. Of course it is not all bad, his eye for a player is good and he does protect his players well, most appear to like and respect him but he should occasionally take time out to publicly take them to task when standards slip, it should not be left to the Chairman. However it is his stubborn refusal to change his tactics which have hurt the team most this season and our only public live airing on SKY so far has seen a rivals manager tell all and sundry what he thought the weaknesses were and lo and behold all and sundry have followed suit. His Lop sided 4-3-3 is not new and everyone knows it and everyone plays to it, its good when it works and looks pretty when it doesn’t it looks pretty awful and so his playing record as Manager highlights this perfectly. We have lost more than we have won since Mr Flynn took control but yet we are still told argh but we are building for the future, is the future to be built around not getting injuries and hoping that the side can time a run sufficiently well to get to the play offs or automatic promotion next season. Mr Flynn you have good contacts and respect within the game but drip by drip you are losing this with those who matter most US Get off your HaHa and start talking and explaining your views for the way forward, people are starting to hear the sound of the penny dropping and they don’t like how deep the well is SORT THINGS OUT MAN Watch
