Trundle: "I Will See My Contract Out" |
Every since Brian Flynn and Kevin Reeves departed the club there have been constant rumours that Trundle was about to leave. Nobody doubted that Trundle owes a lot to Brian Flynn for giving him his chance but he also recognises the support that he has received down the Vetch and also the fact that he is settled in the area. There seemed to be a natural assumption amongst groups of fans that Trundle would up sticks and follow Brian Flynn wherever he went but today he told the South Wales Evening Post "I signed a contract until the end of next season with Swansea City Football Club and I will definitely be seeing that out," he said. "People have talked about me going because Brian and Kevin (Reeves) have gone, but that’s not going to happen. "Although I came down here for them, the way the fans have treated me since I got here has given me a strong feeling for the club. That’s not going to change because the gaffer has gone and I’m just going to ignore all the speculation. "I read about West Ham, but you get stories in the papers all the time. Unless anything concrete ever happens, there’s no point talking about it really." Huw Jenkins was in agreeable mode on Trundle’s comments declaring "We’re not about to sell Lee. We are more concerned about getting him playing again. "Certainly, neither Tranmere nor anyone else has made an offer to us." Meanwhile, Trundle will play 45 minutes of a reserve game against Cheltenham tomorrow as he bids to start again his comeback from injury and he hopes to come through and prove that he will be available for the weekend visit of bottom club Carlisle United to the Vetch Field. |
