Swans Finally Confirm Jackett Appointment |
QPR were unhappy that the news leaked before their top of the table clash with Bristol City but Swansea have kept very tight lipped over this one over the weekend but after personal terms were agreed on Sunday, Kenny Jackett will take the seat vacated by Brian Flynn just over two weeks ago. Jackett has signed a two year contract that will see him occupy the hot seat until the end of the 2005/2006 season and has also agreed that his wife and two young sons will move with him to the area. In a statement released from the club this morning, it says that “The board feel that Kenny has the passion, knowledge and experience to improve the club. He also has the level of expertise and enthusiasm to take the club forward. His will to win and ambition is extensive and he has stated that he will leave no stone unturned in his aim to get the players fit, organised and as motivated as possible” Jackett will leave the post that he has occupied since 1991 – assistant manager at QPR and will take charge of his new team for the first time away to Rhyl in the FAW Premier Cup Semi Final later this week. He holds a UEFA A Coaching licence and also a certificate in Applied management. Jackett has decided not to bring an assistant with him at this moment in time although the board have given him scope to bring one in once he has had chance to gauge the requirements that he has at the club. Swans director David Morgan said “Kenny Jackett is a seasoned professional in the football industry who has played, coached and managed at the top levela. He has a proven track record of discovering young talent and developing them into successful first team players.” I’m sure that Swans fans everywhere will join with me in wishing Kenny Jackett the very best of luck and support in the management hot seat at the Vetch and looking forward to a period of success on and off the pitch under his guidance.
