Rhyl v Swansea? More Like Moran Against Morons |
Gutless, spineless and disgraceful would just about sum up a performance which, once again, was an insult to the fans that invest so much time and money supporting Swansea City Football Club. If only we’d had someone like Andy Moran on our sideรขโฌยฆhe displayed more guts, determination and pride in his shirt than the whole of our team put together. Rhyl thoroughly deserved their victory but it turns my stomach to know that we let them win without any fight whatsoever. Perhaps now, finally, the pro-Flynn brigade will admit that they got it wrong and concede that the board was indeed right to bring in a new man. Flynn’s legacy is a team of highly-paid “fancy dans” who can talk a good game but aren’t so clever at playing it. I’ve no doubt that Flynn would have taken us into the Conference had he been allowed another season at the helm. And just for the record he didn’t “save” us last season – he very nearly took us down, with a whole host of wretched performances resulting in that last day lottery against Hull. Thankfully we came out on top in that one but it could so easily have gone the other way! I still can’t believe that so many people turned on the board of directors. If you are looking for the saviours of Swansea City AFC then look no further than Huw Jenkins, Leigh Dineen and David Morgan; people that have invested a lot of time and a lot of money to keep the club afloat, risking their respective businesses in the process. They gave Flynn everything he asked for and moreรขโฌยฆ.and they, along with the fans, deserve far better for their money than a group of unfit, uncommitted, egotistical big-heads. Many of these players have stated publicly that they could and should be playing at a higher level – gentlemen, its time to start proving it because the dole queue is beckoning. After a truly shocking home performance against a Carlisle team rooted to the bottom of the Football League, our skipper Roberto Martinez said: “We must not play that badly again.” Talk is obviously cheap as a mere four days later the same Swansea City side contrived to produce an even worse performance against League of Wales opposition – not the way to impress your new boss!! Kenny Jackett is an astute man and he will have learned so much from tonight’s display. There is ability within the squad but precious little pride, fight or desireรขโฌยฆ.vital attributes at any level of football, especially League Division Three. New players will be brought in to add those attributes to the squad and perhaps Jackett should add the name of Andy Moran to his list of summer targets – 38 goals this season proves he’s got the skill to go with the character he displayed tonight. You said you liked a challenge, Kennyรขโฌยฆnow you know just how big a challenge is front of you. I just hope that you’ve got more fighting spirit than the players at your disposal – there again, that’s no challenge at all! |
