Andy To Receive His Awards Tomorrow

Andy’s goal against Preston in the FA Cup back in January was the clear winner of the goal of the season award, polling almost twice as many votes as Kieron Durkan’s against Rushden in the same competition. In the player of the year award he again was the clear winner from top scorer Lee Trundle, with Alan Tate a distant third place.

The award will be presented by Swans fan Amy Prosser who was one of the many that voted in the award voting. She will make the presentation of both trophies to Andy at around 2.30pm ahead of the game against York which sees the curtain come down on another League season, the penultimate at the Vetch.

Andy Robinson just over twelve months ago was playing local league football back in his native merseyside but has proved over the course of the season that he undoubtedly has what it takes to make it in the professional game. Back on his Swans debut in a pre season game at Port Talbot last July, it was clear that Robinson had the ability and was what the Swans had been looking for. After first off being offered a short term deal at the Vetch his performances were soon rewarded with a two year deal that sees him contracted to the club until the end of next season.

With his goal tally reaching double figures including the goal that put the Swans ahead against Tranmere in the 5th round of the FA Cup, the award is well deserved and despite the 20+ goals scored by Lee Trundle this season there really was only ever going to be one player of the year.

I’d personally like to congratulate Andy on being crowned the first winner of both these awards and hope that future winners can live up to the standards that he has shown over the course of the season. I would also like to encourage Swans fans to show their appreciation for Andy when he receives these awards off Amy.
