Only Two Retained As Jackett Sweeps Clean |
There was nothing on the table for Roger, Mickey Howard, Kevin Nugent. Jonathan Coates, Stuart Roberts adding to the names of Karl Connolly and Leyton Maxwell who have already been released. It was speculated over the weekend that Jones and O’Leary would be the only ones to get contracts although there were rumours this morning that Kevin Nugent may be offered a short term deal. Some of the names released will be of no surprise to Swansea fans and the names announced today brings the released total up to eight in the past two weeks. It also signals an intent on Kenny Jackett’s part to rebuild his squad totally over the course of the summer and we can no expect a similar number of names into the club with the name of Neil Cutler being back in the frame, according to the Evening Post, to replace Roger in the number 1 jersey. With the likelihood of a new left back and striker at the club, it brings back into the frame Andy Legg and Iwan Roberts as possible player coaches to assist Jackett in his campaign next season. There are also rumours that James Thomas may be told he is too surplus to requirements despite having a further year left on his playing contract. I’d Personally like to take this chance to thank all the released players for the part they have played for the club over whatever period of time they have been here and wish each and every one of them the very best for their futures. |
