Swans To Change Shirt Sponsors? |
Jenkins refused to be drawn any further on what exactly the change would be but it appears unlikely that the new shirts will have the name of Martin Morgan’s former company emblazoned on the front of them. Travel House took over from Stretchout as shirt sponsors three years ago and signed a new one year deal last summer on the same day that Swans unveiled Lee Trundle at Morgan’s hotel to the watching press. It was widely expected that the deal would be renewed this summer but the revelation from Jenkins in tonight’s Evening Post suggests otherwise. No-one from the Travel House has commented on the non possible renewal of the shirt sponsorship but the words of the Swans’ chairman and an announcement on a potential new sponsor is expected within the course of the next few days. It is rumoured that negotiations over the new sponsor are at a very advanced stage although it is also widely rumoured that the new sponsors will remain a local company – something that the current board are known to prefer in their time in charge at the Vetch Field. The new sponsor will of course be the last one at the Vetch Field and will also preside over the production of the new away strip for 2004/5 which will have the names of up to 1000 fans in the shirt material, all of whom will have paid รยฃ25 for the privilege. Fans will of course suspect that the latest change in shirt sponsors will again delay the production of the new away kit – something which has plagued the club over recent seasons and hence why an announcement should (!) be imminent. For the past two years (and more?) the club have struggled to meet the demand of the new shirts at the start of the season and hopefully this time around lessons will have been learned. Never a dull moment at the Vetch? |
