Legg Still Linked With Vetch Return |
Master of the long throw, and former Swansea and Cardiff player Andy Legg is still being linked with a Vetch return after Peterborough manager Barry Fry claimed that the player told him that he (Legg) had received an offer from the Swans to join them for next season. Fry though remains confident that he can hold onto his player coach for next season, believing that the only thing that could tempt him away would be a step into management. He’s told me he’s had offers from a couple of other clubs – Notts County and Swansea – who can pay him more money than I can. "But this time last year there were half-a-dozen clubs after him who could have paid more money but he chose to stay with me. He’s my player-coach, and he had a great season with us so unless there’s a manager’s job on offer, I’m confident he’ll decide to stay with us" said Fry. Legg has long been linked with a return to the Vetch and it is believed that the Swans have offered him a player coach role at the Vetch knowing that he can probably still do a job for them on the playing side. Legg played for the Swans between 1988 and 1993 before leaving to join Notts County, another side believed to be interested in him for next season. Spells followed at Birmingham, Ipswich, Reading and a speall at Ninian Park sandwiched either side of appearances for Peterborough. With over 600 appearances under his belt in his career he would join the Vetch as a senior member of the side but whether a similar role to the one he has at Peterborough attracts him or not remains to be seen. |
