Just Two Weeks Of Summer Left |
Euro 2004 will have a week to run but the players will report back to the Vetch on 28th June for the start of what everyone at the club hopes will be a promotion campaign. The hard work for which we will hope to see the results from August to May will start in earnest as Kenny Jackett works with the squad that he retained and the extras that he has brought in. 1st July sees us take over the contracts of the new signings that we have made this summer and anyone else that commits themselves to the Swansea City cause for the 2004/2005 season. A season that will see the last of the action at our home for so long, the Vetch Field, and all the time we can watch the progress of our new 21st century home at White Rock. Last year pre-season went well for the Swans and they started the season with a bang as they threatened to take the third division by storm. We all know that it went wrong after the opening few weeks but we have to hope that those that remain and those that are new learn from the mistakes that we made last time around and this time keep the pressure there and the football flowing. Joining the squad will be Kenny’s additions so far in Sam Ricketts, Garry Monk, Adrian Forbes and Gary Fisken whilst there is still expected to be some more new arrivals at the Vetch before the season starts in earnest come May. Monk and Forbes will undergo their medicals at the Vetch this Wednesday having already agreed terms at the Vetch. With the coaching staff of Jackett, Curtis and Nugent keeping an eye over them and an offer having been made to Andy Legg then we have the makings of what could to be a very good squad for our third division assault. The new season is dawning closer around the corner and in two weeks time, the Swans will be a fully functional squad once again. Let’s hope they remain that way. |
