Trio All Pass Medicals |
As expected, Adrian Forbes, Sam Ricketts and Garry Monk all passed their medicals at the Vetch Field today to strengthen Kenny Jackett’s squad for next season. All three players had agreed terms several weeks back and all underwent their medicals before being officially unveiled as Swansea City players today. Ricketts was released by Telford at the end of last season as part of the cutbacks made at the cash strapped club whilst Forbes joins after rejecting terms from his current club Luton and Monk was released by Barnsley at the end of last season. Speaking to BBC Sport, Forbes revealed that he thought the Swans would be playing in Coca Cola League 1 when White Rock stadium opens in just over twelve months time whilst Monk revealed that a regular place in the starting line up was instrumental behind his move to South Wales "I like to play football on the floor and so I had no qualms about coming here, I’ve not had a settled season yet in my career. I’m 25 now and need to be playing regular football. That’s the only way you can improve." Meanwhile Kenny Jackett is hopeful that he will get his man in Kevin Austin despite Ian Atkins words a few weeks back that he will stay at Bristol Rovers for next season. Jackett revealed that he was hoping to agree a deal with the 31 year old central defender. "He is coming back from holiday later this week and I intend talking to him again," Jackett told the Bristol Evening Post. "I’d say there’s a possibility we can sort something between us." Atkins though remains adamant that he wants to keep his man "I would like to keep Kevin but, as with Adam, if the player decides he wants to leave the club, there is not a lot you can do about it." he said. |
