First Team Action Helps..

"First Team Action Swung It For Me"

Speaking to the Luton on Sunday newspaper, Forbes said "Basically I am leaving because I didn’t think I had a first team future at this club.

"Players were called in and offered better deals, but when I went in, I wasn’t offered a similar deal.

"They were looking to sign another couple of strikers and I couldn’t see any point in staying,"

Forbes played much of last season upfront for Luton, scoring 10 goals in 11 appearances including an Umbro Isotonic goalscorer of the month award for his exploits. However, he also told the newspaper that himself and Hatters manager Mike Newell never really got on, which would have been another factor in his decision to seek pastures new

"We never seemed to get on," he said. "The manager never said well done to me throughout the season, even when I scored a hat-trick playing out of position. A little praise can go a long way."

It does appear from the views of Luton fans that their loss is almost certainly Swansea’s gain and the addition of Forbes to the squad certainly appears, on the face of it, to be something that we desperately missed last season.

Meanwhile, the identity of Swansea’s last opponents at the Vetch will be known this Thursday with the release of the fixture lists for next season. It is widely speculated that the Swans will start the season at home again meaning that the last game at the Vetch may not be the last game of next season. However, we should take a pointer that the last two season’s have seen us at home first and last day and this would be a nice way to continue.

23 league games and counting……
