The Vetch Field 1912-2005 |
The countdown has started. Soon, Swansea City FC and its fans will permanently bid farewell to their beloved Vetch Field. With its strange angles, four distinctive stands and vibrant atmosphere, the Vetch is a truly unique football ground. Every supporter will have his or her own favourite memory of the place, and a little part of the life of everyone who loves the club will disappear when the last final whistle sounds to bring down the curtain on ninety-three years of Welsh sporting history. Thankfully, those memories need not be lost forever. The Supporters Trust has joined forces with the club, the Executive Fundraising Committee and fans to offer a unique opportunity to treasure your Vetch Field memories for all time. This will take the form of a unique, ‘Limited Edition’ (1000) boxed set of mementoes in celebration of the Vetch, and it is anticipated that it will include: รขโฌยข Photographic record of the last season. รขโฌยข Illustrated history of the Vetch. รขโฌยข Vetch DVD. รขโฌยข CD of Vetch ‘soundscape’ รขโฌยข A’virtual tour’ of the Vetch. รขโฌยข Unique “Gren” sketch. รขโฌยข Line art drawing of the Vetch. รขโฌยข Special Vetch ‘ground memento’. รขโฌยข A ‘Final Game’ programme and a copy of a very early (1915) programme. The launch of the boxed set will set in motion events to celebrate ‘The Last Year atthe Vetch’ and will take place at a luncheon to be held at The Dolphin Hotel, Swansea on Friday 6th August. This will commence at 12.30pm and guest speakers will include Swans manager Kenny Jackett sharing his thoughts on the coming season and Berwyn Price on the subject of The White Rock Stadium.
