Swansea City Development Centre is holding their second football festival at the Elba sports complex on Sunday 22nd August.

There will be six age groups which will run from the ages of under 8 to that of under 13. It will be played in a mini-football format for 7-a-side with ten players in a squad.

We have expanded from last seasons successful event which catered for the ages of under 9 to under 11’s.

Last seasons finalists were:

John Hartson Trophy U9

Champions: Swansea City Centre of Excellence

Runners Up: Tenby

JackArmy.Net Trophy U10

Champions: Swansea City Development Centre

Last year’s winners of the JackArmy.net Trophy

Runners Up: Swansea City Centre of Excellence

Harcourt Printers Trophy U11

Champions: Llangyfelach

Runners Up: Trefelin

This year we are looking for sponsors for the additional the trophies at under 8/12/13’s as mentioned earlier. If you are interested contact Phil.

This season no Centre of Excellence or Development teams will be competing allowing the development players to play for their respective clubs. This will allow the junior clubs to be more competitive and make the festival more open.

Teams will be participating from across South Wales from Tredegar to Tenby . Coaches from the youth department will be looking out for future talent that could be channelled through our development centre and centres of excellence .Those with true potential could go through to our first team and follow in the footsteps of players like Richard Duffy.

Our Development Centres have proved very productive over the last two seasons with 10 players from various age groups being promoted into the Centre of Excellence where they play regularly against other professional clubs in our South West region.

Our Development Centre played in matches against: Bristol, Cardiff, Camarthen, FAW Development, Everton and Chelsea last season giving them a broader football experience.

Lining Up Against Chelsea

So if you wish to watch some good quality junior football get yourself down to the Elbe sports complex on August 22nd.
